Intravenously administered glucocorticoids , such as prednisone , are the standard of care in acute GvHD [7] and chronic GVHD. [24] The use of these glucocorticoids is designed to suppress the T-cell-mediated immune onslaught on the host tissues; however, in high doses, this immune-suppression raises the risk of infections and cancer relapse. Therefore, it is desirable to taper off the post-transplant high-level steroid doses to lower levels, at which point the appearance of mild GVHD may be welcome, especially in HLA mis-matched patients, as it is typically associated with a graft-versus-tumor effect. [ citation needed ] . Cyclosporine and tacrolimus are inhibitors of calcineurin. Both substances are structurally different but have the same mechanism of action. Cyclosporin binds to the cytosolic protein Peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase A (known as cyclophilin), while tacrolimus binds to the cytosolic protein Peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase FKBP12. These complexes inhibit calcineurin, block dephosphorylation of the transcription factor NFAT of activated T-cells and its translocation into the nucleus. [25] Standard prophylaxis involves the use of cyclosporine for six months with methotrexate. Cyclosporin levels should be maintained above 200 ng/ml. [26] Other substances that have been studied for GvHD prophylaxis include, for example: sirolimus, pentostatin and alemtuzamab. [26]

Both the ACP and the American Academy of Allergy and Immunology (AAAI) consider provocation-neutralization therapy an unproven modality.  In a Training Program Directors' Committee Report on Controversial Practices published by the AAAI, provocation-neutralization testing and neutralization therapy are listed as unproven.  The AMA's Council on Scientific Affairs, based on the reports in the peer-reviewed scientific literature, stated that there are no well-controlled studies establishing a clear mechanism or cause for multiple chemical sensitivity syndrome.  More importantly, there are no well-controlled studies that have demonstrated either diagnostic or therapeutic value for provocation-neutralization therapy.

In conclusion, if you have asthma, Chinese herbal medicine is a strong option for controlling or even reversing the condition. However, any changes to Western medicines must be gradual and supervised by a medical doctor. With herbal treatment, patients usually notice a decreased need for their bronchodilators, which they regulate themselves. If this improvement holds over time, they can confidently approach their physician to discuss changes in their preventer inhalers, as well. Over time, it may well be possible to be off all medication.

i think i could told my experience… in few words i suffer practically of zero pathologies in my young life (only 23 years old) and sounds great uh ? Nope because since 16-17 years old i start to suffer from atopic dermatitis and i could swear about god that i will never wish this disease to anyone… it is a nightmare that never ends… anyway putting aside the sad part of the story, one day i get interested in human nutrition and step by step i start to get informed and after some reading i chose the plant based diet road… what can i say: it works great… i need some more time because i live in a “toxic” environment (ignorance is the main culprit) but victory is near !!. Wish me good luck !!
Ps
i tried both corticosteroids and cyclosporine A (Neoral) and of course they suppress everything (no side effects in my case, thank God) and gave temporary relief but curing your disease with a diet it is one hundred thousand times better… and about the toxic environment, well without it probably my health would have been recovered months ago…
