IGF-1 is a growth factor that is closely related to insulin. It carries the same amount of amino acids as insulin and as stated above, it is responsible for the anabolic reactions to GH. When IGF-1 is released by the liver, it then binds to IGF growth factors inside the cells, and causes the stimulation of cell growth. I think most people aren’t in the range of igf where the trade off is an issue. Most people are overweight, and excercise too little and have high igf due to being overweight and also reduced life span. For most people reducing food intake and excercising more will be a win win. A varied balanced diet low in processed food will help too. Sometimes it is as simple as that. Also as noted you can get the non igf benefits of exercise without spiking your igf if you train at a level you are used to, as noted in the article. Finally the low igf issues noted are unlikely to be an issue an issue other than in very elderly or calorie restrictors as again most are overweight which pushes up igf.
