The directions for applying oxalic acid, according to our local bee supplier, who is very trustworthy and knowledgeable, include that it should be done on a 40 degree day. I was waiting for things in cool down in October and apply it on my hive in the beginning of November, but we have slid into winter early and for the past two weeks we have had temps. in the middle 30’s for daytime temps. We haven’t reached anywhere near 40 and the forecast for the next week is all in the low 30’s. We also have snow on the ground. Sometimes we have a warm up, but with everything so cold this early, it’s hard to imagine. So, my question is, do I apply it at this cold of a temp. or have I missed the opportunity? I am planning on covering my hive today with the puffy wrap because nighttime temps. are quite low. Thank you.
